Black Madonna

This sculpture draws on the history and mythology of various nations to produce a cross-cultural rendering of the timeless Mother and Child image. The woman, of South African descent, is adorned with Ethiopian silver and crowned with a halo of Nigerian-style sculpted hair. She represents the mother Goddess of Africa, Diana of Classical Greece, the Virgin Madonna of the West and the Earth Mother of Mankind.
